OGEE or ILIA? I Tried Both Tinted Serums…Only One Genuinely Worked Like Skincare + Foundation

When it comes to achieving that perfect, natural glow, what’s your secret? Truthfully, I didn’t have one until recently. I’ve always hated a full coverage look, but – let’s be honest – going bare-faced doesn’t always leave me feeling the most confident (as much as I wish it would).

I want something that looks like my skin, but better. Both OGEE and ILIA promise a natural finish, but I found that OGEE truly delivers on that “second-skin” effect. 

The Complexion Perfecting Tinted Serum offers buildable a feather-light foundation. I was skeptical at first, because I’ve been using OGEE’s Foundation Sticks for a while, and I wasn’t sure a liquid could match their control and weightlessness. To my surprise, OGEE’s serum did just that, providing a radiant finish and covering my blemishes without a cakey feel. 

Personally, I can’t say the same for ILIA’s tinted serum. Its texture is stickier and felt heavier on my skin. It felt like I was always too extreme with my makeup look, rather than that effortless “like skin” version I wanted. On my combination skin, it sat heavy, especially around the T-zone. I found myself always having to blot my face, which then meant I’d have to reapply throughout the day. Wasn’t for me.

Any cosmetics you apply to your face are going to get soaked right up by your skin, which is why skincare-forward makeup is a must for me. Both ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint and OGEE cost $48, so there’s really no competition here! Cost is a decision-maker for me with beauty products (regardless of how good it looks, it is tough when you have to pay an arm and a leg) but in this case the quality and wear of OGEE’s product make this a no-brainer.
